13 September 2019 – DAY 9 (Najera)
Today’s walk was tough. The road was easy, but hard on the feet. We’re staying in a convent tonight. Arrived 12:30 and technically can go further, but 22-24km is enough on the feet and it is really hot! Funny…today people started singing on the walk, but towards the end…. nothing. Lovely guys I’m walking with…only downside…. the burping!!! I also know all about ball-chafing and the importance to have Vaseline and Baby powder. The best is apparently the baby powder 😂 Just had an ice-cold shower and need to attend to my blisters now. We made a big meal last night at the Albergue and will probably do so again tonight. Many villages to pass on our way tomorrow and aim to get to the one where there is a swimming pool. Victor is the fit one…he is a tall Dane with long legs and loves to run. It is good to have him in our group, as he was able to secure beds for us today. They reckon the pilgrimage is great because you can walk at leisure and just find a bed in the village you choose…. this is so not true!!! First come first serve and that is why we start walking at 6 in the morning…also cooler. These boys make mean sandwiches…boy can they eat!!
