1 October 2019 – DAY 28 (Villafranca de Bierzo)
What a difficult walk in terms of my feet and not the route. I don’t think my feet completely recovered from the previous two days, so started off swollen and sore. Wanted to walk another 5km but cannot. This is a really pretty town in the middle of the mountains and is very rich in history. There are many Albergues, but they are all full…. thanks to the Koreans! Hannah (Korean) told me that there was a reality TV show in Korea where 3 of their very famous actors stayed here and did various walks. This marks the anniversary of the show, and everybody wants to be here to relive the show… (go figure!!). Met a SA guy from Cape Town – Michael Theunisen who took a bus for a big section … Why?😳. The one Albergue arranged to take me to another one where there was space. Lovely people and interesting building built in the rocks. Had a drink with Larry and Matt from northern California. Saw Andreas (Italian guy with the most gorgeous hair) again. He also didn’t go further today despite his inner debate. We had. Lovely meal (Larry and I) and off to sleep now!!!!! Hopefully my feet will be better… Took all the plasters off to let it dry. Will patch it up a little before I leave tomorrow…. wish me all the luck in the world!!!!!!!!
