28 September 2019 – DAY 25 (Astorga)
So, I’m now in Astorga. Interesting town from the 11th century-ish. It used to be the capital of a pre-roman tribe. Guadi buildings, beautiful cathedral from the 15th century which I’ll visit as soon as I’ve fed myself. The road here was okay. Much hillier, so definitely out of the plains. I’m a happy chappy, because…. have no blisters and had no plasters on today!!!! One little toe a bit tender, so might put a protection plaster on tomorrow. There was a lovely little oasis along the road. Give them a donation and eat as much fruit as you want. Walked with Larry today and every now and again Claire joined in… Staying in a very old Albergue with an equally old man doing the reception. Washed clothes and had to hang it out if the window…a first for me. Met two couples from Aus… really nice, as well as Gary from Bournemouth and Joseph from California. Had a lovely time. Now…. lights out!!! Forgot to mention – two days ago a man died of a heart attack after the strenuous first day. Really sad.
