27 September 2019 – DAY 24 (Santa Marina Del Rey)
It’s interesting how the names are different on the app. I’ve walked 24km and is now in San Martin del Camino. Only 12km to the next town, but my feet told me ‘nope’. I’m having a well-earned beer. They always serve drinks here with a snack included. It was very cold this morning but warming up now. I had yet another cold shower with hardly any pressure – fortunately didn’t wash my hair. I think I must be quite smelly and cannot wait for a scalding hot shower, lovely body lotion and wearing perfume! Amazing how little you need, but also interesting what you miss. Larry and Claire are also at this Albergue. I’ve decided that I’m going to do roughly 25km per day from now on. So easy to do more because I’m much fitter than when I’ve started, but don’t want to risk an injury at this stage. Weather is changing – don’t know whether it is just the season or whether it is because we’re nearing the mountains again. After Astorga we are going to have another few rough days of climbing mountains 🙈. Should be pretty though. So….we’ve been given grapa at the end of our meal. It was so strong….it feels as though it killed future blisters…. I hope!!
