26 September 2019 – DAY 23
Day 2 in Leon. On the little red tourist train again ☺ Leon is an old roman town with over 200,000 inhabitants. Apparently, the cathedral is one of the best cathedrals in the whole of Europe known for its stained-glass windows. The one big building with the little fountains in front is a five-star hotel – it used the be a monastery, a pilgrims hospital as well as a prison in previous times. Bought some foot cream and then went for a beer with Larry. Still waiting for my hijos to arrive – silly crowd slept rough again last night 😳. Trying to take a siesta, but it is just not in my nature… Started packing my bag and planning my trips for the next few days. Don’t know whether I should book ahead or not. Apparently, the intake of the group of people that started on the 5th of Sept. is the highest ever per record…hence rushing for beds… I’ll just wing it still until I get to Sarria. Lots of people only want to do the last 100km (an 8th of the whole route), so would be busier then. Shall reserve from there onwards. Waiting to meet up with my amigos/ hijos ☺
