3 October 2019 – DAY 30 (Triacastela)

Meant to stay at Triacastella but decided to walk 2km further to la Balsa. It was a lovely walk amongst the mountains with loads of ascents and descent. I think after 650km I can say that I am fit and really, at this stage my feet gave up on sending me hurtful messages, which makes life easier. I’m going to try and walk a bit more every day so that I do not stay in the popular places. Victor mentioned that it gets very busy after Sarria, and we’ll definitely have to book beds in advance. Met many Americans today…. Anne from Euston really knocked me out with her walking poles because she cannot speak without her hands (which had freaking walking poles in them)! Staying at an eco-friendly Albergue. Food and wine are organic, and they gave you organic soap to wash with. Only 22 beds and ran by a Dutch guy and his Italian wife. Only Americans staying here and a couple from Barcelona. Will try and have an early night and subsequent morning. OH, MY GOODNESS……organic wine tastes like @#%&. I think it will start tasting like real wine after the second glass…. actually, not positive about that either!!! It is so bad…even my lips stick together 😳 There are such a lot of airy-fairy people here…. I’ve completely ‘cheesed’ then off by giving them very vague and generic answers to their questions…. I believe them to be very pretentious… fortunately the first encounter of ‘their sort’ 😜I don’t want to be mean, but after all the long walking and nearing our destination it was not fun to be questioned by strangers about your life’s ambitions and all the highlights of the walk so far, because it is different for everybody and quite a personal journey.
