21 September 2019 – DAY 17 (Carrion de los Condes)
Only a 20km walk today to give my legs and feet a break. Not a great road to walk, although the semidesert countryside is beautiful. I’m absolutely knackered today. Will try to have a longer walk tomorrow just to get these plains behind me. Hard walking in full sun. Hopefully will have less people snoring tonight so that I can catch up on sleep as well. Our group is scattered, so I walked alone again today. We’ll all probably will catch up again in Leon. Walked around the village…it is a really poor village with lots of run-down houses. There are a group of men that just arrived on bicycles – they all look at least 7months pregnant…. wonder how difficult it must be for them? We have a massive thunderstorm here raining cats and dogs…. hopefully can have a dry start tomorrow!
