19 September 2019 – DAY 15 (Hontanas)
Oh….my….goodness…..!!!!! I’ve just walked 31,8 km on my own. It was an endless, pebbled boring road with no shade at all! I thought I was going to die! I shouted many times at the stupid flies flying right in front of your face…they are so annoying! Anyway, I’m at a nice and clean Albergue and will have a quick shower. Will have a shorter route tomorrow. I was meant to only walk to Hornillos del Camino today, but I was there 11o’clock in the morning and it was too early to stop. I thought I’ll walk to the next town – San Bol, but there was NOTHING there. So, I had no choice but to carry on. The route is going to continue like this (straight for miles on end) as I’ve entered the Maseta Plains. Apparently, it stretches all the way to Leon where it will get more mountainous again. So, we’ve lost two of the guys who went back home, but gained Pijus (Lithuanian), Alex (Australian) and Signa (another lovely Dane). I’ve started early today. The rest partied till very late, so they are behind. Will be weird without them but already bumped into Olga who I’ve met on day 2. Will have a lovely pilgrim’s dinner at 7. Good menu here – 11euros for a 3-course meal is not bad at all!!!
